10. It Gets Better

You might be having a rough day, month, or even a difficult year. The good thing is that it will get better. Just hang in there. You are strong. You are meant to persevere. It’s your choice. You can give up, give in, or give it all you’ve got. So, keep pushing through. You will survive and you’ll come back better than ever. So, take a deep breath. You’ve got this!

9. Be Extraordinary

Don’t be limited by what you think you can’t do. Every once in a while, do something completely different. Do something that makes you sit back, in awe at yourself, and say, “Wow! I rock!” Step beyond your comfort zone. This is where you will truly shine. It’s where you are meant to be.  See #8

8. Get Moving

Daily exercise is not only good for your heart and your body, but it can also help make us happy. Exercise releases endorphins, those “feel good” chemicals that promote happiness. So, try to fit in some exercise each day. Lift weights, go running, take a CrossFit class, or simply dance your heart out. Just get moving each day to improve your mood and your health. See #7

7. Empower Your Children

Encourage their strengths, talents, and passions. Let them know that you believe in them. Be their biggest cheerleader. Model positivity, confidence and self-respect so that they grow into self-assured individuals who aren’t afraid to follow their dreams. See #6

6. Don’t Be Afraid to Take Chances

You only have one life to live. Take a chance once in a while. Do something outside of your comfort zone. Don’t think about all of the what ifs, such as What if it doesn’t work out? What if I fail?. Do something amazing and instead think, “Ah! What if it is better than I ever imagined!” Feel the fear, but do it anyway!  See #5

5. Surround Yourself With Positivity

Consciously surround yourself with positivity each day. Hang out with positive people, read uplifting articles, and be proactive as you go about your day. Positivity is contagious. Unfortunately, so is negativity. So avoid negative situations as much as possible. The most successful and happy people have an extremely positive outlook. See #4

4. Accept Life’s Imperfections

Life is not perfect. No matter how wonderful or happy your life may be, it will never be perfect. So, appreciate what is working well for you and take the rest in stride. There are some things you just have no control over. But, you do have control over your reactions. So, just accept that everything will not always work out as planned and that there will usually be some little bumps along the way. See #3

3. Do Good Works

Take some time each day to perform random acts of kindness for others. The simple act of helping someone elevates your mood (as well as theirs). So, make an effort each day to do something nice for those around you. So, hold the door open for a stranger, compliment the cashier on her hairstyle, or make dinner for a sick friend. Making someone else happy just feels good.  See #2

2. Set Goals

It would be almost impossible to get in your car and drive across the country to a place you’ve never been without a map or your GPS system. In the same way, going through life without any directions will get you nowhere fast. You must have a plan. Setting short and long term goals will not only help you to navigate through your life’s journey, but goal setting will also show you how far you’ve come. It is so important to have a plan for your life. Without one, you won’t have much control over how things will turn out.  See #1

1. Choose Happiness

Decide to be happy. It sounds rather simple, but it’s a very important step in your path to a happier, more satisfying life. When you make the decision each day that you are going to be happy, then you will actively seek out positive experiences, people and ideas. So make it a point today to be happy. Get rid of any negative thoughts, shun negative energy, and avoid any negativity that comes your way today. See #2
